Learn how PDG Mail protects you from spam and unwanted emails.
Important Note
While we employ multiple layers of protection, no spam filtering system can guarantee 100% effectiveness. However, our comprehensive approach helps minimize unwanted emails while ensuring legitimate messages reach your inbox.
1. Spam Protection Layers
PDG Mail employs multiple layers of protection to keep your inbox free from spam and unwanted messages:
- DNBL Lists: We maintain and check against lists of known spam sources
- Reputation Analysis: The system analyzes sender patterns and history to identify legitimate senders and prevent false positives
- Phishing Protection: Advanced detection of phishing attempts and malicious links
- Virus Scanning: All attachments are scanned for malware and viruses
- DMARC Analysis: We verify email authentication using DMARC, DKIM, and SPF to ensure emails come from legitimate sources
- Reply Tracking: Our system automatically identifies and prioritizes legitimate email conversations by tracking message threads
- LLM Classification: In certain cases, we may use AI-powered content analysis (using Qwen or Deepseek) to identify spam patterns. This is used selectively and only when necessary, as we prioritize your data privacy
2. How Spam Filtering Works
When an email is received, our system:
- Automatically moves messages identified as spam to your "Junk Mail" folder
- Allows you to review these messages to ensure no legitimate emails were caught
- Provides options to mark messages as "Not Spam" if they were incorrectly filtered
3. Training Your Spam Filter
You can help improve the accuracy of your spam filter by:
Marking unwanted messages as spam
- If you receive an email that should be marked as spam, simply move it to your "Junk Mail" folder
- This helps our system learn and improve its filtering accuracy
Marking legitimate messages as "Not Spam" if they were incorrectly filtered
- If a legitimate message is in your "Junk Mail" folder, move it back to your inbox
- This helps prevent similar messages from being marked as spam in the future
Pro Tip
Adding senders to your contact address book helps minimize the chance of their messages being marked as spam.
Understanding Spam Scores
Our spam filtering system uses a sophisticated scoring mechanism to evaluate incoming messages:
- Initial Analysis: Each email is analyzed for various spam indicators
- Reputation Check: The system checks the sender's history and patterns
- Content Evaluation: The message content is evaluated for spam characteristics
- Reply Tracking: Messages that are part of existing conversations are automatically prioritized
- Final Score: A final spam score is calculated based on all factors
Reply Tracking System
Our reply tracking system helps minimize the chance of legitimate email conversations being marked as spam:
- When you send an email, our system stores the Message ID for up to 30 days
- Incoming emails are checked against these stored Message IDs
- If a match is found in the 'References' or 'In-Reply-To' headers, the message is automatically marked as legitimate
- This helps ensure that replies to your sent emails are less likely to be marked as spam
Data Privacy Note
Our reply tracking system only stores Message IDs for 30 days and does not track the content of your emails. This helps ensure legitimate conversations reach your inbox while maintaining your privacy.
